27/05/2008 The FWFF team is proud to announce that a Griffon Vulture was observed on the feeding site near the acclimatization aviary in Kotel. The distance and the unsuitable sunlight gave no opportunity to the observer to see if the bird is wearing rings or not, but has been visible the white collar, that gives us the idea that this is the Griffon Vulture B54. This bird has been experimentally released together with two others in late August 2007. It was the only one that showed attachment to the area of release and was observed in the area until mid November 2007. After that it was reported from the area of the rubbish dump of the town of Omurtag that is about 20 km away from the releasing site. A month ago FWFF transported four vultures from Zoo de Doue to the acclimatization aviary and three days ago a large cow carcass was set to the feeding site. May be these two facts let the vulture to come back to the feeding / releasing site. We will keep you informed for any developments.
